Chartered Institute of Fundraising names next chair
Harpreet Kondel has been named as the next chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
Kondel, who has had a 30-year career in charity fundraising, was announced as the chair-designate at the CIoF’s annual convention in London yesterday.
She will succeed Nadine Campbell, who is coming to the end of a three-year stint in the role.
Campbell took on the role, initially on an interim basis, after Claire Rowney stepped down after a year in the role after the CIoF faced criticism for its handling of complaints of sexual harassment at its events.
An independent report into the membership body’s handling of those complaints is yet to be published.
Kondel, who is already a CIoF trustee, has spent the past seven years as a fundraising consultant, working at charities including the RNIB, Diabetes UK, Christian Aid, Dementia UK and the MS Society.
Before this, she held long-term senior fundraising and campaigning roles at Barnardo’s and the British Red Cross.
She is a trustee of St John Ambulance and chair of its fundraising committee.
Kondel said: “I’m really honoured to be the next chair of CIoF and look forward to working with the dedicated team at CIoF and our members to deliver our ambitious goals.
“Together, we will build on our successes and create even more opportunities to make a difference for those in our communities who need it most.
Her appointment is subject to being formally approved at the CIoF’s annual general meeting in September.
