‘Most-recognised’ charity revealed
Cancer Research UK is the charity that is recognised by the highest proportion of people, new research has found.
The latest edition of Third Sector’s Charity Brand Index is based on research conducted with a representative sample of 4,000 people in April and May.
Participants were asked if they recognised a selection of more than 150 major UK charities, with 87 per cent saying they knew CRUK’s name when prompted, the highest proportion and a four percentage point increase on last year.
The research, conducted by the research company Harris Interactive, found the British Red Cross scored second-highest on 85 per cent, with the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support in third and fourth place, respectively.
Oxfam, the RSPCA, BBC Children in Need and The Salvation Army were next, tied at 78 per cent.
CRUK topped the overall Charity Brand Index for the 12th time in 15 years, a spot it has occupied since 2017.
The full Charity Brand Index includes tables covering in-depth survey data on publicity, individual giving, recognition and trust, plus individual write-ups for all the top 150 charities.
