Medical support charity welcomes new chief
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis has welcomed Daniel Saxton as its new chief executive.
Saxton has joined after almost 13 years in a range of roles at the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Cambridgeshire, including 10 years as head of the hospital’s charity in addition to other responsibilities.
He succeeds Louise Wright, who has taken up the top job at the sight-loss charity Vista after five and half years at APF.
The charity, which supports people affected by lung scarring, had an income of £1.4m in the year to the end of June 2023.
Mike Stubbins, chair of the charity, said: “We have ambitious plans for the coming years and Daniel’s leadership will be crucial in helping us achieve our goal of ensuring more people affected by pulmonary fibrosis can live well for longer.”
Saxton said: “My focus will be on increasing our support for the many people affected by this disease, ensuring their voices are heard, and working with partners to deliver improved care, more research and earlier diagnoses.
“Together, we can make a real difference to the lives of those impacted by pulmonary fibrosis. Joining such a dedicated team and community is a true privilege and I look forward to building on the incredible work already being done.”
