Sustainability charity reveals next chief
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has appointed Jonquil Hackenberg as its next chief executive.
Hackenberg, who is chief executive of Eunomia Research & Consultancy, will succeed Andrew Morlet, who is stepping down at the start of November after 10 years in the role.
The charity works with business and policy leaders around the world to accelerate the transition to a circular economy, a framework that aims to tackle global challenges such as climate change and pollution using methods including the recirculation of products and materials.
A spokesperson for the foundation said Morlet planned to “take some time to explore new opportunities” but the charity “hopes and expects to see him in our orbit again before too long”.
Before joining Eunomia, Hackenberg was global head of sustainability and climate response at PA Consulting and before that spent 13 years at the multinational technology company Infosys in a variety of roles, latterly global head of sustainable business.
She said she had long admired the foundation and “couldn’t be more excited” to become its next leader.
“I have spent the best part of my career working to ensure circularity, climate response, and sustainability are at the forefront of business strategy,” she said.
“The shift to a regenerative, circular economy is no longer just a vision — it’s happening."
She said Morley had “built an exceptional organisation and I look forward to working alongside inspiring individuals, partners, and changemakers to accelerate this transition, and together build a future in which business, society, and nature thrive”.
The record breaking sailor Dame Ellen MacArthur, who chairs the charity and founded it in 2010, said: "It’s with great excitement that we welcome Jonquil as our new chief executive.
“She is a strong and charismatic leader with a proven track record of engaging diverse organisations in driving systems change across industries.
“Her passion for developing people, along with a talent for building partnerships that accelerate impact, makes her the perfect person to lead us forward.”
Hackenberg will join the foundation on 4 November.
