Think tank appoints senior Treasury official as next chief

The Resolution Foundation has appointed a senior HM Treasury official as its next chief executive.

Ruth Curtice will assume her role on 20 January, the think tank confirmed.

She will take over from interim chief executive Mike Brewer, who will return to his previous roles as deputy chief executive and chief economist.

Curtice is currently the director of fiscal policy at the Treasury, where she has worked for more than 15 years.

She has had a wide range of roles at the Treasury including working in the chancellor’s private office, supporting the Independent Commission on Banking and leading the Treasury’s distributional analysis.

Curtice said: “I am excited to be leading the Resolution Foundation into the next phase of its valuable work.

“I have seen at first hand the impact its excellent analysis has had on policy in the UK. I look forward to furthering its mission to improve the living standards of low to middle income households.”

Clive Cowdery, founder and chair of the Resolution Foundation, said: “I am delighted that Ruth will be taking the leadership of the Resolution Foundation in our 20th year, as Britain enters a decisive decade of policy choices.

“She brings an exceptional track record in economic analysis and policy making, and shares a deep commitment to the Resolution Foundation’s mission to improve the living standards of millions of families on low to middle incomes.”
