Rural charity appoints new chief
Rural Action Derbyshire has appointed Emma Simpson as its chief executive following the retirement of its previous head.
Simpson, who has been at the charity for 10 years as its head of communications and administration and rural fuel poverty lead, took over from Beverley Parker on 1 January.
RAD, which works to improve the lives of people living in rural areas, said Simpson had a long-standing and deeply rooted connection to the charity.
“Her dedication to addressing rural disadvantage and her commitment to the people and communities RAD serves make her the ideal choice to lead the charity into its next chapter,” the charity said.
“She has played a pivotal role in many of RAD’s flagship initiatives, including tackling rural fuel poverty, championing community-led solutions to rural challenges and helping to create innovative partnerships.
“Her leadership, dedication and ability to foster strong relationships have ensured RAD remains a trusted and impactful organisation in Derbyshire and beyond.”
The charity described its former chief Parker, who spent 10 years at RAD, seven of them as its chief executive, as an “extraordinary” leader who guided the organisation through significant growth.
“Bev has been an outstanding leader, and I know I have big shoes to fill, but I am eager to embrace the challenge,” Simpson said.
“My focus will be on building upon RAD’s strong foundations, working collaboratively with our dedicated staff, trustees and partners to continue supporting and empowering rural communities.”
