Nursing charity chief to retire

The chief executive of The Queen’s Nursing Institute is to retire after 12 years leading the organisation.

Crystal Oldman joined the community nursing charity in November 2012 after spending more than 18 years as a community nurse for the NHS working in west London.

Before joining the NHS, Oldman worked at Buckinghamshire New University, where she progressed from senior lecturer to dean of enterprise and business management in the Faculty of Society and Health.

Oldman was recognised in 2017 with a CBE for her contributions to community nursing and her leadership at the QNI.

She said it had been an honour and a privilege to hold the position of chief executive at the charity.

“I look forward to seeing the institute grow and develop under new leadership,” she said.

Oldman’s retirement date will depend on how quickly the QNI can appoint a successor but is expected to be this summer, the charity said.

She is expected to move on to voluntary roles after leaving the charity.
