Omaze has denied allegations that its latest prize draw property breaches planning regulations, saying the claims are “wholly false and inaccurate”.

The company, which raises funds for charities through million-pound property prize draws, has denied allegations that its Norfolk house draw fails to comply with the relevant planning permissions, after a probe was launched by North Norfolk District Council.

The £6m coastal property in North Norfolk is nearly 5,000ft² and includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a tennis court.

It is being raffled off in a prize draw that will raise funds for Comic Relief alongside a £250,000 cash prize, the winner of which will be announced on the BBC’s Red Nose Day programme on 21 March.

But the council is investigating the property in response to claims reportedly made by a member of the public, which allege that the property is larger than its planning permission allows.

According to reports by MSN, the complainant claimed that the floorplans from the property’s planning permission, granted in 2020, differed from those publicised by Omaze, which purchased the property last July.

A spokesperson for North Norfolk District Council said: “We are looking into the matter to establish the facts.”

But Omaze has denied the allegations, with a spokesperson saying: “Any suggestion that the eventual winner will incur any cost whatsoever to remedy any claimed planning discrepancy is wholly false and inaccurate.”

The spokesperson said: “As with all its properties, Omaze and its team of expert professional advisers conducted a thorough due diligence exercise prior to purchase, to ensure that the property in Norfolk complies with all relevant planning and building regulations, as well as being of the highest design and build standard.

“We are happy to confirm that the property passed all surveys and checks.”

The spokesperson said Omaze had taken “appropriate measures to guarantee that the winner of the Norfolk House will receive a good and marketable title”, adding: “Omaze is looking forward to raising significant funds from this prize draw for its charity partner Comic Relief.”
