Women’s support charity reveals next chief

Young Women’s Christian Association Yorkshire has promoted Diane Offers to chief executive as the charity’s current chief prepares to semi-retire after 30 years leading the charity.

Offers is the charity’s human resources manager and will take over from Tracy Gollins on 1 April.

Gollins has led the charity since becoming its first chief executive in 1993.

The charity said Offers would work closely with Gollins during a transition period to ensure a seamless change in leadership, building on the charity’s legacy of supporting vulnerable women, children and families across South Yorkshire.

Offers has been at the charity since 2010, when she joined as a project manager before being promoted to human resources manager, a role she has held for the past 11 years.

The charity said Offers’ range and breadth of experience, both as a front-line practitioner and strategic manager, put her in a unique position to take YWCA Yorkshire forward.

“Diane’s career with YWCA Yorkshire has given her valuable insight into the real challenges faced by the people supported by YWCA Yorkshire, as well as the operational and strategic decisions needed to ensure that services remain effective and sustainable,” the charity said.

“By strengthening relationships with local businesses, funders and community organisations, Diane aims to expand the charity’s network of support, ensuring that YWCA Yorkshire remains at the forefront of delivering life-changing services.”

Gollins will remain actively involved with YWCA Yorkshire after she steps down as chief executive, the charity said.

She will continue to support grant applications and bids, working alongside Offers, the board, and the charity to secure funding for vital services.
