Benevolent charity reveals next chief
The Insurance Charity has appointed Helen Sanson as its next chief executive as the charity’s current head is retiring.
The charity provides financial support and practical guidance to current and former insurance professionals in the UK and Ireland who are facing financial challenges.
Sanson will join The Insurance Charity on 10 March after spending 22 years at The Switch, an education and training charity for children and young people, the past 12 as chief executive.
Annali-Joy Thornicroft announced her retirement from The Insurance Charity in the autumn after almost 40 years at the organisation.
Sanson said: “I am excited to begin my next chapter at The Insurance Charity, a remarkable organisation that provides vital support to current and former employees from the insurance industry.
“What truly stood out is its commitment to helping individuals and families facing a range of challenges.
“The chance to support people through their toughest times and have a positive impact on their lives will be incredibly rewarding and I look forward to bringing passion and dedication to the team effort.
“I am excited to get to know my new colleagues and the trustees as we continue this important mission together.”
Thornicroft said the charity, which last month changed its name from The Insurance Charities, was entering an exciting era with a renewed vision to reach those in need of help.
“To have had the opportunity to support past and present insurance colleagues for almost 40 years has been a privilege and a blessing,” she said.
“Many colleagues, volunteers and beneficiaries have become friends, which is something I cherish.
“My successor will have the strong support of our wonderful team of colleagues and volunteers to embrace all that lies ahead.”
