A charity football match at Wembley Stadium has raised nearly £5m for charities, including BBC Children in Need.

The Sidemen FC match on Saturday saw two teams of YouTubers go head-to-head in a fundraising effort that raised £4.7m for good causes.

Sidemen FC, a group of seven major content creators that includes the boxer KSI, were beaten by the YouTube Allstars, a team of creators that included the YouTube phenomenon MrBeast.

BBC Children in Need will receive 50 per cent of the funds rasied, while 43 per cent will go towards Bright Side, a grantmaking charity for young people that was founded by the Sidemen in 2023.

The remaining 7 per cent will go towards the education and attainment charity M7 Education.

This match raised more than double the amount raised in the Sidemen FC’s last charity match in 2023, when the total reached £2m.

Sidemen FC was captained by the creator Miniminter, while YouTube Allstars was captained by the creator IShowSpeed.

The YouTube Allstars won the game in a penalty shoot-out, after a 9-9 draw at full-time.

More than eight million people tuned into the livestream and all 90,000 tickets for the game sold out in three hours, according to BBC reports.

The video of the game on YouTube has received more than 17 million views in total.
