Seafarers’ charity reveals next chief
The Marine Society & Sea Cadets has appointed Guy Holloway as its next chief executive.
Holloway, who has spent the past five years at the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, latterly as interim chief executive, will succeed Martin Coles, who is stepping down after 15 years at the MSSC.
A spokesperson said Coles’ next steps were yet to be confirmed but he would continue as a volunteer for the charity, which was formed through the merger of the Sea Cadets and Marine Society in 2004.
The Marine Society supports the wellbeing and professional development of seafarers and the Sea Cadets offers training and activities to young people in the UK.
Holloway said of his new role: “The traditions, values and sense of purpose that define the organisation create a powerful environment for young people and seafarers alike.
“I look forward to building on the charity’s successes and ensuring we continue to provide exceptional opportunities for those we serve.”
Jeremy Penn, chair of the MSSC, said Holloway’s “passion for youth development, combined with his strategic leadership experience, makes him an excellent fit for MSSC as we continue to grow and evolve”.
Penn said: “We are confident that under his leadership, MSSC will continue to thrive and provide outstanding support to young people and seafarers.”
Holloway will become chief executive of the MSSC in May after a two-week handover with Coles.
