Community foundation reveals next boss
The South Yorkshire's Community Foundation has appointed Martin Singer as its next chief executive.
Singer joins the community grantmaking organisation from the same role at South Yorkshire Charity Mentors, which provides mentoring and peer support.
He previously worked for SYCF as a consultant and was a commercial development manager at Age UK before taking a part-time role as a commercial director at the charity.
Singer succeeds Ruth Willis at SYCF who has retired after almost 12 years in the role.
Singer said: “Over almost 40 years, the foundation has created a remarkable legacy of empowering communities, supporting local charities and making a lasting difference across the region.
“I look forward to building on the successes achieved over the last four decades and ensuring we continue to be at the heart of South Yorkshire’s charitable sector.”
Willis said she was proud of what the charity had achieved and went into retirement knowing SYCF was in a strong position to continue its pivotal role as the cornerstone of community support in South Yorkshire.
“It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside so many dedicated and talented colleagues, volunteers, donors, chairs and community groups who share my passion for making South Yorkshire a better place to live and work,” Willis said.
“Together, we’ve supported countless local projects, created partnerships which have helped to strengthen communities and provide vital funding where it’s needed most.”
